Frequently Asked Questions
Rebates
Private health insurance
If you have private health insurance with dietetic cover, you may be able to claim back a portion of the appointment.
Medicare
With a chronic disease management plan from your GP, you can claim back $59.00 for up to 5 appointments per year.
NDIS
Appointments are available for NDIS participants who are plan-managed or self-managed.
Do you accept Private Health Insurance?
Yes, I do! Coverage varies between different health funds, so it’s important to check with your provider to see what they offer. If your policy includes Dietitian services, you can submit your paid invoice after your appointment for reimbursement. Rebates are available depending on your level of cover, so be sure to review your policy to see if you’re entitled to a rebate for dietetics.
I have a Care Plan, how does that work if I want to work with you?
If your doctor has set up a Care Plan to help you access care, please note that I don’t offer bulk billing, so there will be a gap fee. You’ll need to pay the invoice, and I’ll process your Medicare claim on the same day. Currently, Medicare covers $59 of the appointment cost.
Do I Need a Referral?
No referral is needed to see us! If you’re an Australian resident, you can use your private health insurance if it covers dietitian services.
If you’re eligible for a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a form from your GP. This can entitle you to up to 5 allied health consultations per calendar year if you have a chronic disease or need team care. The forms are called a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) or a Team Care Arrangement Plan (TCA).
Please note, I am not a bulk-billing practice. You’ll need to pay the consultation fee in full at the time of your appointment. I can process your Medicare rebate on your behalf, and it will be sent to your linked bank account. Alternatively, you’ll receive a receipt to claim with your private health fund through their app, website, or system. Each health fund and policy has different rebate amounts, so check with your provider for details.
Please remember, you cannot claim both private health insurance and Medicare for the same consultation due to differences in the codes.
I Don’t Live Nearby—Can I Still Work with You?
Absolutely! I offer Telehealth appointments, so you can work with me no matter where you are—whether it’s within the state, country, or even around the world.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
We understand that life can get busy, or you might be doing so well that you no longer need my services (which is great!). I just ask that you give me as much notice as possible so I can offer the spot to someone else who needs it.
To cancel or reschedule, you can use the “Cancel Appointment” link in your appointment confirmation email. Alternatively, you can reach me at michele@ediblehealth.com.au or call 0421 885 434.
I require at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid fees and to allow me to fill the spot from my waitlist. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, a 50% may be charged or if you don’t show up, the full consultation fee will be charged.
I would rather avoid cancellation fees! Please contact me as soon as you know you can’t make it so we can minimize fees and help other clients who are waiting.
